What is a Car Diagnostic Test?

A car diagnostic test identifies problems with a malfunctioning vehicle. It’s an accurate assessment carried out by a technician using a diagnostics machine. Using specialized software, car diagnostic tools detect faults in a car’s engine or elsewhere, through the use of microchips, sensors, and built-in processors.

The computer scans the vehicle’s onboard computer, identifying any diagnostic trouble codes, and also service notifications issued by your vehicle’s manufacturer.

What faults do diagnostics identify?

Diagnostic tests commonly identify engine problems, problems with brakes, exhausts and other major components, as well as issues with fuel injectors, airflow and coolant, throttle, ignition coils, and transmission problems.
